MDP_Friendship Village_DiningMDP is thrilled to receive an Honorable Mention in the 2020 EFA Design Showcase!

The EFA Design Showcase is published each year in the Spring issue of Environments for Aging to highlight architecture and interior design projects with exceptional solutions in both new and renovated senior care environments. Selections are made by a jury appointed by The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), The Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), The Center for Health Design, and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

The winners of the 24th annual Showcase were separated into three categories. Finalists, Honorable Mentions and a Merit Award Winner. There were five Finalists this year, four Honorable Mentions, including Friendship Village submitted by MDP, and one Merit Award Winner. Honorable Mentions were given to projects that “Raised the Bar” with specific criteria.

Friendship Village is located in Schaumburg, Illinois and provides a full continuum of care for seniors. The community recognized how important state-of-the-art dining venues are—and would continue to be—for residents. MDP had the pleasure of working with the Morrison Living Hub Design Team on the multi-phased dining venue transformation. This award recognition is for the conversion of a three-meal-a-day, buffet-style venue into a chic new restaurant called Mosaic. The honorable mention also includes recognition of the adjacent Teaching Kitchen, which offers creative, culinary hands-on learning experiences for residents, families and prospects.
