The spring issue of EFA Magazine featured the 2022 EFA Design Showcase. It is the 26th year of this annual awards program, which celebrates excellence in senior living design. According to the magazine, the selected projects “represent modern solutions to senior living that take shape in numerous ways, from vibrantly landscaped campuses to diverse dining experiences to multifamily-inspired residences and amenity spaces.”

MDP’s Inspired Design Team has two published projects in this year’s issue—two projects that represent the ongoing design evolution in senior living.

Smith Village – Food Hall

The Smith Village Food Hall concept illustrates the dining evolution occurring in senior living environments across the country. MDP collaborated with Scopos Hospitality, Morrison Community Living and AG Architecture on this new culinary vision for the Smith Senior Living campus in Chicago. The proposed innovative and flexible plan includes an updated bar, destination restaurant, grill and hearth micro venues as well as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Heath Village – The Meadows

Health Village is a non-profit, full-service retirement community in Hackettstown, New Jersey. The Meadows is a 92,000-sq-ft. expansion project that elevates the community’s health care services. MDP worked with the entire development team to replace an existing medical model of care with a new household model. The facility offers 108 long-term and short-term care beds for residents and members of the community-at-large to receive cutting edge skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
