Summary
When it comes to enriching the lives of seniors, dining plays a key role in resident satisfaction. Smith Senior Living wanted to invest in a new dining experience at Smith Village in order to maintain their reputation for providing a welcoming atmosphere and superior services. The MDP Team worked with Scopos Hospitality and Morrison Community Living to introduce a new culinary vision.
Before
Inspired Design
Design trends often provide a source of inspiration. For this project, the team explored food and culinary trends, noted existing and potential resident preferences, considered Covid-related precautions, and evaluated operational efficiencies. The result is an innovative and flexible plan that introduces new dining experiences and exciting options with an updated bar, destination restaurant, grill and hearth micro venues as well as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Style
The dining venues serve as the final phases of an interior reinvention at Smith Village. The existing ornate colonial details were replaced with a simplified and refined hospitality-inspired aesthetic. Each venue is distinctly branded to create a sense of place. From fast casual to formal, the décor and detailing reinforces the nature of the dining experience.
Materials
A palette of natural materials in warm earth tones is accented with pops of rich ochre and refreshing blue tones. A combination of textures and patterns provide visual interest and a sense of comfort. Coffered ceiling details and flooring insets subtly frame dining areas, while dramatic light fixtures and decorative wall screens add artistic touches to each space.
