Friendship Village | Schaumburg, IL

Friendship Village, a continuing care retirement community in Schaumburg, Ill. with a resident-centric philosophy, recognized how important state-of-the-art dining venues are—and would continue to be—for residents. The goal was to elevate the dining experience on campus by creating an upscale, full-service dining venue with more dining variety within an existing building.

The team for this comprehensive dining transformation included SCOPOS Hospitality Group, Morrison Living, MDP | Merlino Design Partnership and Spiezle Architectural Group.

The multi-phase renovation started by converting an existing three-meal-a-day buffet into Mosaic, a chic, new restaurant that couldn’t be more different from its predecessor. The design promotes a new way of life at Friendship Village. The dining area is no longer just a place where you go to eat—but a part of the social fabric of the community. It gives people an opportunity to meet, connect, socialize, nurture relationships, and gather. The plan maintains an open appeal while still providing distinct destinations. The modern environment uses architectural details to offer connections between spaces as well as glimpses into different areas to support a sense of discovery.

Helping people live better lives is the mission of Erickson Senior Living, and this mission comes to life with the addition of a two-story, 25,000-sq.ft. fitness and aquatic center at Riderwood.

The team for this state-of-the-art wellness hub included Hord Coplan Macht and MDP | Merlino Design Partnership.

Contemporary architectural forms, connections to nature and a vibrant interior provide an inspired setting for a variety of wellness activities.
