Three Senior Living Design Projects Published in EFA 2019

Awards, MDP News

MDP is honored to have three projects make it into the 2019 Spring issue of Environments for Aging: Echo Lake, Oak Crest Town Center and The Vista (which was one of eight Finalists).

Echo Lake blends an upscale and energetic city feel with all the charm and advantages of a quaint town setting. The overall design of the community was inspired by the client’s wish to incorporate maximum flexibility into the design of residential units and common areas to best accommodate future market changes, population shifts and redistribution of capacity at each level of care.

Oak Crest Town Center was part of a long-range master plan. The Town Center building underwent a major expansion/reconfiguration/renovation, including new dining venues, a variety of public spaces and new, state-of-the-art wellness, fitness and aquatic center for the residents of Oak Crest.

The Vista, an EFA Design Showcase Finalist, is a 400,000-sq.ft. service-enriched facility. It will offer 199-independent living apartments and a modern commons area that provides diverse wellness-focused amenities, including a variety of dining venues, a performing arts center, craft rooms, library, state-of-the-art wellness center, pool and therapeutic day spa. Jurors deemed it as a “top project” among this year’s entries.

The EFA Design Showcase is published each year in the Spring issue of Environments for Aging. Selections are made by a jury appointed by The Center for Health Design, The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), The Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
