One of MDP’s long-time strategic partners—Gary Kanalstein—passed away on June 28, 2022. Kanalstein founded New Jersey-based KDA Architects and served as President from 1969 until his retirement in 2014. KDA and MDP have worked together for over three decades designing nearly 30 projects, mostly in the senior living sector.

“Personally, Gary taught me so much about life, business, architecture, and community design,” says MDP Principal Bruce Hurowitz. “His mentorship has been invaluable to my career. Even since his retirement, we spoke often—mostly about our beloved iggles.”

Bruce and the MDP Team celebrate his life and architectural legacy. MDP is committed to working with the KDA Team and other industry professionals to continue Gary’s belief in creating environments that support dignity for all people.
