The MDP Team is inspired by The Vatican

Inspired Design

St. Peter's cathedral in Rome, ItalyThere is inspiration everywhere we look. And for design professionals, inspiration often comes from history in the form of architecture, interiors and art.

For several members of the MDP Team, Vatican City in Rome, Italy provides that historical source of inspiration.

Chris Mullin, director of interior architecture, finds both St. Peter’s Basilica—and the Pietà sculpture by Michelangelo that it contains—to be inspiring.

“If you have walked through the Holy Door and experienced the Vatican in person, no explanation is required. If not, go to Rome and be prepared to have your jaw drop,” says Chris.

Senior Interior Designer Kelly Crozier was fortunate to tour St. Peter’s Basilica at the young impressionable age of 17.

“As I toured this exquisite building, I became overwhelmed and humbled as my eyes devoured the intense visual combination of architectural adornments, ornate sculpture and mosaics. This breathtaking blend of architecture and art was the first time that I was emotionally moved by design,” says Kelly.

And Lead Interior Architect Adam Scott loves Raphael’s School of Athens fresco. “It’s part of such an important piece of architecture that I hope to visit someday,” says Adam.
