The MDP Team is once again honored to have a project recognized in the Argentum Senior Living by Design awards program. The Vista by Christian Health Center in Wyckoff, New Jersey was selected as one of five winners in Argentum’s 2022 program. The project is featured in the organization’s 2022 Design Report.
According to the publication, “Each award-winning design this year shares a sense of connection and community. The thoughtful use of space brings people together. Residents feel the connection to the natural world and each other, building a deep appreciation for life and a sense that they belong.”
Christian Health has been serving the community throughout northern New Jersey for more than 100 years. The Vista is the final phase of development at Christian Health’s Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC).
Surrounded by 10 acres of untouched, wooded hillside property, the goal was to draw design inspiration from the unique site and views of the Ramapo Mountains. Due to the organization’s focus on fostering an inspiring experience of multidimensional wellness for residents, the intent was to deliver a service-enriched community—a hospitality-inspired environment to support diverse, wellness-focused amenities. The design intent was to emphasize activity and connectivity—to reinforce the mantra of “Exceptional amenities for a life well-lived.”
The style of The Vista recalls the area’s historic homes with a hint of mountain lodge to build off the tone set by the calming natural environment. Rustic materials and detailing create an old-world charm for the exterior which is complemented by a contemporary interior’s palette of refined finishes. Inside, oversized windows that provide natural light and views were prioritized to support wellness and enhance the warm neutral palette. A combination of wood tones, stonework, ironwork, and glass provide rich textures presented with refined architectural detailing. In dedicated wellness areas, the interior is infused with pops of vibrant colors to emphasize activity and energy.
According to the report, Senior Living by Design judge Todd Hudgins, senior vice president at Erdman, applauded the “rustic, fantastic design.”

In addition to this recent Argentum award, The Vista has been honored in the Environments for Aging (EFA) Design Showcase and by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in the Best of 55+ Housing Awards program.
