Summary
The Crossings at Brick Church Station is a multi-phased development by Triangle Equities and Incline Capital—an urban renewal project that will serve as an economic engine for the city of East Orange. The project includes 820 residential apartments, over 185,000-sq.ft. of retail and a 1,200-space parking garage. The Crossings will serve as the doorstep into the city from the train station, welcoming residents and visitors into a vibrant community hub.
Inspired Design
In the spirit of urban renewal, the team looked to provide an inspired live-work-play atmosphere for the residents. The intent was to balance the energy and engaging connectivity of communal living with moments of respite and a sense of privacy. Featured amenities include attractive lobby areas, two distinct courtyard experiences as well as a dynamic fitness center, a sophisticated clubroom, a community kitchen, a home theater, a pet spa and a modern co-working space.
Style
Taking cues from the history of the area and the proximity to the train station, a modern industrial aesthetic provides an approachable yet sophisticated setting that resonates with the diverse mix of commuter residents. From darker, industrial elements to bright, modern details, the team created distinct destinations to suit the scale, function and location of each amenity space.
Materials
To achieve the modern, industrial look, the palette interplays exposed brick and storefront glass with dark metals and rich walnut. Visual interest is created with focal walls, such as a laser-cut screen with green moss at the concierge desk. The fitness area punctuates the striking industrial details and dynamic screen walls with a layer of bold color.
